KUCHING, 9 May 2025 – A special Night Counter Service organised by SUPP Kuching Branch drew a large crowd in Jalan Padungan last Thursday night, offering much-needed assistance to the public after regular office hours.

Held from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in front of Life Café, the event was spearheaded by the SUPP Kuching Youth Section and successfully catered to students, the elderly, OKU (Persons with Disabilities), and busy working families who struggle to find time during the day to seek assistance.
Among the main highlights was the RM1,200 Sarawak Student Aid Help Desk, which guided students through the aid application process. Many arrived with their documents ready, and with help from SUPP Youth volunteers, were able to complete their applications smoothly.
SUPP Youth Chief Nicholas Wung, who also offered free legal consultations at the event, expressed his appreciation for the strong community support.
“We’re happy to see so many people responding. It shows this service is really needed. Not everyone can visit government counters during the day,” he said.
The services offered at the Night Counter included:
- RM1,200 Student Aid Application Assistance
- Kenyalang Gold Card Applications for senior citizens
- OKU Welfare Registration
- General Welfare Subsidy Applications
- Certified Document Verification by an appointed Kapitan
- Income Letter Preparation for parents with no fixed salary
- Free Legal Advice by Nicholas Wung
Many expressed their gratitude for the initiative, noting that it was convenient and efficient. The programme also allowed for face-to-face clarification, which many found reassuring.
Nicholas also reminded all students that the deadline for the RM1,200 Sarawak Student Aid is 1 June 2025 and urged eligible individuals not to miss this opportunity.
SUPP Kuching Branch confirmed that more night counter sessions will be held across different areas soon to continue supporting those who need help the most.
