“The suspect is believed to have grabbed the handbag and attempted to flee the scene. However, during his escape, he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the GOF base gate,” Supt Mohd Irwan said in a statement.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene pronounced the suspect dead upon examination. The tragic event has left the victim’s family shaken but unharmed.

Police have classified the case under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which pertains to robbery, and Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which addresses reckless driving resulting in death.

The police are investigating further into the circumstances surrounding the incident and remind the public to remain vigilant, especially during this festive season when opportunistic crimes tend to rise.

This unfortunate event underscores the risks and consequences of criminal actions, while also serving as a warning for would-be offenders.
