Family lawyer, Datuk Naran Singh Ara Singh, confirmed that the re-excavation was carried out at the Kampung Rinching Hulu Muslim Cemetery before the remains were transferred to the National Forensic Medicine Institute (IPFN), HKL.

According to Naran, four grave diggers began the excavation at 8.45am, and by 9.22am, the body was removed in good condition. The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) carefully wrapped the remains before they were transported for examination.

“The initial process was carried out today, while the full autopsy will be conducted at 9am tomorrow,” he told reporters during a press conference at the cemetery grounds.

He added that the deceased’s family expressed satisfaction with the procedures, which were witnessed by three forensic experts from IPFN HKL and the family’s appointed forensic specialist, Datuk Seri Dr Bhupinder Singh.

The re-examination was requested after Syamsul Haris’ mother, Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun, 45, claimed she noticed visible injuries on her son’s body. Among them were swelling around the eyes, a bloody nose, chest cuts and bruises.

“How can the Defence Minister say that there were no injuries? As a mother, I feel deep sadness and will continue to demand justice,” she said.

Meanwhile, Naran dismissed claims that he was charging high legal fees, stressing that he is representing the family pro bono.

“I am doing this for free. Justice must be served, regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion,” he said.

The case has drawn national attention, with many calling for a transparent investigation to ensure accountability in the death of the young cadet.
