Tabuan Jaya Chamber Donates to Brighten Kuching for Chinese New Year

KUCHING, 8 January 2025 – The Tabuan Jaya Chamber of Commerce has stepped up to spread festive cheer by donating funds towards vibrant Chinese New Year decorations for the Tabuan Jaya Commercial Centre and Dato Song Swee Guang Park.

The handover ceremony, held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) office at Jalan Padungan, saw the generous contribution received by YBhg Dato Wee Hong Seng, Mayor of Kuching South. Representing the Chamber were Penghulu Dato Alex Pui, Secretary of the Chamber, alongside key leaders including Mr. Lim Swee Chiaw, Chairman; Wee Teck Ping, Treasurer; and Hiew Kit Shang, Youth Chairman.

This donation will transform the commercial centre and park with festive lanterns and decorations, creating a welcoming and joyous atmosphere for residents and visitors. The initiative aims to celebrate Chinese New Year with cultural vibrancy while strengthening community bonds.

Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng highlighted the significance of the gesture, saying, “Chinese New Year is about unity, joy, and fresh beginnings. With this thoughtful contribution, we hope to enhance the festive spirit, making it a celebration to remember for the people of Tabuan Jaya.”

The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) expressed gratitude to the Chamber for their continuous support in community-building efforts. The decorations are expected to draw more visitors to the area, boosting local businesses while showcasing the community’s unity and cultural pride.

As the Year of the Dragon approaches, this collaboration between MBKS and the Chamber underscores the importance of partnerships in creating an inclusive and festive environment for all.
