KUCHING – The official opening of Tadika KEMAS Taman Sri Permai marks an important milestone in the development of early childhood education and community facilities in the area. The ceremony was officiated by YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, reflecting the government’s continued commitment to improving the quality of life for local residents, especially young families.
For many years, Taman Sri Permai has seen steady and well-planned investments aimed at building strong community foundations. These efforts recognise that education does not begin at primary school, but much earlier, within a safe, comfortable and supportive environment for young children. The opening of this kindergarten is a clear sign that early education remains a priority.
The development journey began with an initial allocation of RM200,000 used to construct a community hall that serves as a central space for residents to gather, hold events and strengthen social ties. Recognising the growing needs of the community, the government approved an additional RM200,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme in 2023 for the construction of the Tadika KEMAS building. This step ensured that children in the area would have access to proper early education facilities close to home.
In 2024, a further RM175,000 was channelled towards improving and upgrading the kindergarten facilities. These enhancements were aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment, with better infrastructure to support teaching activities and the overall development of children. Such improvements reflect a long-term vision rather than short-term solutions.
The commitment to community development continues in 2026, with another RM200,000 allocated to upgrade the community hall. The upgrades include the installation of electricity supply, fans, a stage, an awning and other essential facilities. These improvements will allow the hall to function more effectively as a shared space for educational, cultural and social programmes.
At the opening ceremony, YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang highlighted that investments in early education and community facilities are investments in the future. He noted that when children are given a strong start, the entire community benefits in the long run through better social outcomes and stronger unity.
The official opening of Tadika KEMAS Taman Sri Permai is more than just the launch of a building. It represents progress, careful planning and a sustained effort to support families and nurture the next generation. With continued support and responsible management, the kindergarten and community facilities are expected to serve residents well for many years to come.
