SIBU: A total of 125 house owners in Taman Rajang have yet to register their compensation claims for the central sewerage system upgrading project, and are urged to do so at the Pelawan Assemblyman Service Centre before the July 4, 2025 deadline.

Sarawak Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (Public Health and Housing), and Pelawan State Assemblyman, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, emphasised the importance of registration to ensure that every eligible homeowner receives the compensation promised by the Sarawak Government.

“This is part of a promise made by the Premier of Sarawak during the 2018 General Election, allocating RM3 million to upgrade the sewerage infrastructure in Taman Rajang,” said Datuk Michael Tiang during a site visit on Thursday.

The compensation will benefit homeowners who previously used their own resources to install individual septic tanks.

According to him, 320 households had taken the initiative to install septic systems before the project’s implementation and had applied for assistance through his office.

“I brought this issue to the attention of the Premier in 2020, and I’m grateful that compensation has now been approved. This is the fruit of our collective efforts,” he added.

So far, 195 residents have registered, leaving 125 yet to come forward.

“This is your right — please register before July 4. Bring necessary documents such as ICs, land titles, valuation bills or utility bills for verification,” he said.
