Two-Storey House Fire in Taman Satria Jaya Leaves Elderly Man Injured

Two-Storey House Fire in Taman Satria Jaya Leaves Elderly Man Injured

KUCHING — A two-storey house in Lorong E1, Taman Satria Jaya, was badly damaged after a fire broke out, leaving an elderly man with minor injuries.

According to the Kuching Civil Defence Force (APM), a four-member emergency response team rushed to the location after receiving the distress call. Upon arrival, the officers found the permanent-structure home already engulfed in flames.

The house belongs to Teow Mei Hsiang, who does not live at the residence. Her father, Teow Yoke Kim, was inside the house during the incident. The victim’s son-in-law, Tan Lai Guan, confirmed that the elderly man suffered minor burns on his hand and is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital.

Despite the trauma of the fire, the victim is now staying safely at a close relative’s home. Authorities confirmed that there was no need for any transfer to the temporary evacuation centre (PPS).

Fire and rescue teams worked quickly to control the blaze. However, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The Fire and Rescue Department is currently conducting a full investigation to identify what sparked the incident.

Local authorities are reminding the public to remain alert and ensure all electrical appliances and wiring in their homes are in safe condition, especially during the year-end festive period when fire incidents often rise.

Residents facing any emergency are urged to contact the Kuching APM directly at 082-252940 / 082-252941, or call the national emergency hotline 999 for immediate assistance.

This incident serves as a strong reminder that quick action from emergency teams and early reporting from the public continue to play a key role in preventing greater loss of life and property in local neighbourhoods.
