The mission was initiated following an emergency call from a resident reporting a stinging insect hazard within their home.

Upon receiving the report, a four-member APM team was immediately dispatched to the residential unit (N7).

During the site inspection, the personnel identified a wasp nest roughly the size of a takraw ball, which had been built on the ceiling of the complainant’s house.

Recognising the risks posed to the occupants, particularly given the indoor location of the nest, the APM team proceeded with a controlled removal operation.

The nest was neutralised using professional-grade insecticide spraying, a method chosen to minimise the risk of agitation to the wasps and ensure the safety of the residence.

“The APM team successfully destroyed the nest using the poison spray method safely and in a controlled manner,” a spokesperson for APM Tanjung Manis stated.

The operation concluded without any untoward incidents, and the interior of the house was confirmed to be safe and clear of further threats.

The Civil Defence Force continues to urge the public not to attempt to disturb or remove wasp nests manually, especially when they are found inside living quarters.

Aggravating a nest can lead to dangerous swarming behaviour, which poses a severe risk of multiple stings. Residents of Tanjung Manis are encouraged to reach out to the APM at the first sign of a nesting hazard to ensure a professional and safe resolution.
