TATAU – The Tatau Civil Defence Force (APM) responded to a public call concerning a snake found in the yard of a house at Kampung Baru, Tatau, on the evening of 17 September 2026.
The Tatau Unit Operations Control Centre received the emergency call at about 8.43pm from a member of the public reporting the presence of a snake at No. 95 Kampung Baru, 97200 Tatau.
Following the report, a three-member MyASPA-O Delta response team was deployed to the location to assess the situation and carry out the capture operation.
When the team arrived, the complainant informed personnel that the snake was in the yard outside the house. Responders subsequently prepared for the operation and put on full personal protective equipment (PPE) before approaching the animal.
The team captured the snake a few minutes after beginning the operation. The reptile was identified as a python measuring approximately 0.5 metres in length.
APM personnel used a clamping technique to secure and capture the python. The operation was completed without further incident, and the team reported the successful conclusion of the response to the Tatau Operations Control Centre.
All three personnel returned safely to the operations centre after completing the task.
The incident demonstrates the role of emergency response personnel in assisting residents when wildlife enters residential areas. Such operations require responders to take appropriate precautions while assessing the location and handling the animal.
Residents who encounter snakes or other potentially dangerous wildlife are advised to avoid approaching or attempting to capture the animal themselves. Contacting the relevant emergency or response authorities allows trained personnel to assess the situation and determine the appropriate course of action.
