The MRP Phase 2/2025 allocations target registered entities including Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), clubs, associations, churches, Parent-Teacher Associations, DBNA, women’s bureaus and university students (public and private).

The event was intended to channel state government support to grassroots bodies shaping local development.

In his address, Dr Simon emphasised that the contributions go beyond mere financial aid. He framed them as a tool for deepening community growth and enabling local organisations to lead development in their areas. He appealed to recipients to manage the funds responsibly, with transparency and real impact.

The ceremony also featured administrative appointments: 13 Village Heads received reappointment letters, while two new JKKK Secretaries were appointed for Kampung Sejijak Plaman and Kampung Darul Falah.

Across Sarawak, similar MRP grants are used to support small-scale rural infrastructure and community projects. For instance, RM831,000 in MRP funds was recently disbursed to 20 recipients in Pulau Bruit.

In Mulu, RM147,000 was allocated to local committees and organisations under the MRP scheme.

The MRP programme (Minor Rural Project / Projek Rakyat Kecil) is commonly leveraged across the state to empower rural communities to carry out modest but meaningful projects such as facility upgrades, community infrastructure, and local activities.

With this round of funding and incentives, Tebedu’s administration reaffirms its commitment to supporting local organisations, enabling leadership at the grassroots level, and sustaining inclusive rural development.
