Tebedu Sees Completion of RM590,000 Rural Transformation Projects

TEBEDU – Five infrastructure projects valued at RM590,000 have been officially handed over to local communities in Tebedu under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP). The ceremony was witnessed by Tebedu State Assemblyman, Dr Simon Sinang Bada, who emphasised the importance of these initiatives in uplifting rural living standards.

The completed projects span several villages, including Kampung Payau Burus, Kampung Lobang Batu Mawang, SK Daha Kisau, Kampung Tebedu Bung Padus, and Kampung Tebedu Mawang.

Among the upgrades are the refurbishment of community halls, improvements to teachers’ quarters, and enhancements to footpaths and bathing facilities. These developments are expected to provide more comfortable and safer amenities for residents.

Dr Simon expressed gratitude to contractors, implementing agencies, and village leaders for their cooperation in ensuring the projects were completed smoothly.

He noted that the RTP programme reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, particularly in rural constituencies.

“The implementation of projects under the RTP programme is proof of the state government’s commitment in improving basic facilities and the well-being of the people in rural areas,” he said.

The RTP initiative has been a cornerstone of Sarawak’s rural development agenda. In Tebedu alone, allocations have reached nearly RM1 million in 2025, with additional projects worth RM910,000 lined up to improve roads, halls, and village amenities.

Similar efforts across Sarawak have focused on upgrading longhouses, drainage systems, and access roads, ensuring rural communities benefit from infrastructure comparable to urban areas.

Recent RTP projects in Tebedu include the upgrading of Kampung Payau Burus Hall, renovation of SK Daha Kisau teachers’ quarters, and construction of new pedestrian pathways in Kampung Tebedu Mawang.

These facilities are intended to serve as focal points for community activities while improving daily convenience for residents.

Dr Simon also urged villagers to take responsibility for maintaining the upgraded facilities. He highlighted that the long-term success of these projects depends on community stewardship and wise usage.

“I urge residents to take care of the upgraded infrastructure and use it wisely for the benefit of their villages,” he remarked during the handover.

The Sarawak Government has consistently reiterated its focus on rural transformation, with leaders stressing that well-planned infrastructure is vital for both social welfare and economic growth.

Deputy ministers have pointed out that RTP allocations are designed to be efficiently utilised, ensuring every project directly benefits the people.

With these latest completions, Tebedu continues to see tangible progress under the RTP framework, reinforcing the state’s broader vision of balanced development across Sarawak.
