New Sungai Karu Bridge Inaugurated in Tebedu

New Sungai Karu Bridge Inaugurated in Tebedu

TEBEDU – A newly constructed bridge spanning Sungai Karu in Kampung Pichin has been officially inaugurated, marking a significant milestone for rural infrastructure in the district.

The project, which cost RM150,000, was handed over in a ceremony presided over by Tebedu Assemblyman, Dr. Simon Sinang Bada.

The event was attended by Pichin Village Head, Rioi Lagit, community leader Martina Aisan, representatives from the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and the Public Works Department (JKR).

A formal signing of the project handover document took place, symbolising the agreement and accountability between the contractor, JKR, the village leadership, and the assemblyman.

In his address, Dr. Simon emphasised that the structure offers more than just convenient daily access for residents.

He highlighted its potential to boost local tourism by improving access to the Awah Gawai Kampung Pichin Homestay.

“I hope that this facility is well maintained and fully utilized by the local community,” he stated. He added that the development is intended as a lasting catalyst for the village’s continuous progress, not just an immediate solution.

According to the Public Works Department, the bridge’s design is the first of its kind within the Serian division.

Its completion in under three months is considered a notable achievement, demonstrating the department’s capacity to deliver high-impact projects efficiently.
