According to Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, initial investigations at the scene revealed that the victim lost control of the motorcycle before crashing and falling onto the road.

“The victim suffered serious head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he stated in a press release.

He also confirmed that the front part of the motorcycle was badly damaged due to the impact of the crash.

“The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.

This incident adds to the growing concern over fatal road accidents involving young riders in the state. Authorities have continuously reminded motorcyclists, especially young riders, to always be cautious and to adhere to road safety guidelines.

Meanwhile, locals expressed sadness over the tragic loss of another young life on Sarawak roads. Some residents also voiced concern over the placement and visibility of roadblocks, urging authorities to ensure proper signage and visibility, especially at night or early morning hours.

The body of the victim has been taken to Sibu Hospital for post-mortem.
