MIRI – A coordination meeting has been held at the Miri JPJ Office to prepare for the implementation of the 2026 Class B2 MYLESEN Motorcycle Driving Licence Assistance Programme at the DUN N.77 Telang Usan level.
The programme is jointly organised by the Telang Usan DUN Service Centre, the Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ), and the Batu Niah Driving Institute.
The initiative aims to ensure that driving licence assistance for local communities is carried out smoothly and in an orderly manner.
The meeting, held on 16 March 2026, was chaired by YB Dato’ Dennis Ngau, Assemblyman for N.77 Telang Usan.
Also present were YBrs. Tuan Norizan Bin Jili, Director of JPJ Sarawak, and Tuan Yusniman Bin Mohamad, Head of the Driver Licensing Division of JPJ Sarawak.
The MYLESEN programme is designed to help target groups, particularly those in rural areas, gain access to motorcycle licences.
By providing assistance, the initiative seeks to improve mobility, enhance road safety, and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
JPJ Sarawak reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the programme, emphasising that the department will continue to facilitate access to licences while ensuring strict adherence to road laws.
Officials highlighted that the collaboration between government agencies and local service centres is vital to delivering effective assistance to communities.
The meeting also discussed operational aspects, including coordination with driving institutes, scheduling, and ensuring that participants receive proper training and guidance.
By streamlining processes, organisers aim to reduce barriers for rural residents who may face challenges in obtaining licences.
Community leaders welcomed the initiative, noting that access to motorcycle licences is essential for improving connectivity in rural constituencies like Telang Usan.
Motorcycles remain a primary mode of transport in many areas, and the programme is expected to ease travel for work, education, and daily activities.
The coordination meeting concluded with a shared commitment to ensure that the MYLESEN programme is implemented efficiently, reinforcing the government’s pledge to improve road safety and accessibility for rural communities across Sarawak.
