Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation Marks a Decade of Caring Legacy

JOHOR BAHRU – The Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation (TLJCF) has reached its tenth anniversary, continuing the legacy of the late Tunku Abdul Jalil Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, whose battle against cancer inspired the creation of the foundation.

At the Decade of Caring Appreciation Ceremony held at the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) on 6 December, Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen Mother, reflected on the foundation’s journey. She emphasised that the late Tunku Abdul Jalil’s courage and perseverance remain the driving force behind TLJCF’s mission.

Her Majesty noted that the foundation’s impact is visible in the thousands of patients who have received assistance, support, and hope over the past decade. “This foundation would not have reached this level without the strong support of sponsors, donors, and strategic partners who have been loyal to the foundation since its inception,” she said. She added that every contribution symbolises compassion and solidarity with those enduring the challenges of cancer.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Johor royal family, including YAM Che’ Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor and YAM Tunku Tun Aminah Binti Sultan Ibrahim, underscoring the continued royal support for the foundation’s work.

Two video presentations were featured during the event. The first highlighted TLJCF’s success stories, showcasing the journeys of Puan D. Rajaletchumy and Encik Kamarolzaman Ahmad Shahimi, patients battling breast, bone, and colorectal cancer. Their testimonies illustrated the tangible difference the foundation has made in improving lives.

The second video, titled “Fight Like Me”, was produced by the Royal Press Office (RPO). It featured personal accounts from individuals who shared their experiences with the late Tunku Abdul Jalil, celebrating his resilience and the inspiration he continues to provide.

Established in 2015, TLJCF has grown into a vital institution in Johor, offering financial aid, medical support, and awareness programmes. The foundation’s work reflects the values of compassion and service that Tunku Abdul Jalil embodied during his lifetime.

The anniversary ceremony not only honoured his memory but also reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to expanding its reach and sustaining its mission. With continued support from donors and partners, TLJCF aims to strengthen oncology services and provide greater access to treatment for cancer patients across Johor.
