The programme, spearheaded by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, aims to cultivate a reading culture from an early age and empower parents and guardians to play an active role in developing children’s literacy skills at home.

Toh Puan Fauziah emphasised the importance of exposing children to books from a young age.

“Early exposure to reading sharpens children’s minds and contributes to more balanced emotional and social development,” she said in a post on the official Facebook page of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

She also noted that such initiatives can help reduce screen dependency among children and promote comprehensive early education.

In the same post, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi extended his congratulations to the Sarawak State Library and the Sarawak Government for supporting the noble initiative.

“The free provision of Reading Seeds Kits opens doors for more families to access quality reading materials and fosters a reading culture at home,” he said.

He expressed hope that the programme would lay a strong educational foundation for Sarawak’s children, contributing to a brighter future for the state.
