KUCHING – Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, wife of the Sarawak Governor, visited the One Stop Early Intervention Centre (OSEIC) Sarawak at Metrocity on Wednesday, demonstrating strong support for the state’s initiatives in assisting children with special needs.
She was welcomed by Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Deputy Minister Datuk Rosey Yunus, and OSEIC General Manager Dato’ Dr. Saadiah Abdul Samat.
During the tour, Toh Puan Fauziah inspected key facilities including the Lion Class, Sensory Integration Room, Snoezelen Room, and Hydrotherapy Room, with detailed explanations provided by Minister Fatimah.
Established as a referral hub for early intervention, OSEIC aims to help children with special needs develop holistically and reach their fullest potential. As of July 2025, the centre has served 715 children, with 643 in Kuching and 72 in Dalat.
Notably, in 2022, 297 children completed the program, with 69 (23.2 percent) integrating into mainstream education, 174 (58.6 percent) joining the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI), and 54 (18.2 percent) entering the National Special Education School (SKPK).
In a gesture of encouragement, Toh Puan Fauziah presented a contribution to OSEIC to further bolster its efforts in delivering quality early intervention services for a brighter future for these children.
