Tragedy Strikes Sri Aman: Three Dead, Five Injured in Fiery Crash

KUCHING – A devastating road accident near Kampung Selepong Jinggau, Sri Aman, claimed three lives and left five others injured on Friday morning. The crash occurred at around 8.30 am and involved a Proton X70 and a Perodua Alza, both of which were completely engulfed in flames.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the incident saw three passengers in the Proton X70 perish at the scene. The victims were identified as a 70-year-old man and two women, aged 22. Medical teams confirmed their deaths immediately upon arrival.

Five others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the collision, while traffic on the stretch was temporarily diverted to allow emergency services to operate safely. JBPM Sarawak confirmed that fire crews managed to control the blaze, preventing further damage to the surrounding area.

Local police have launched a formal investigation into the accident, focusing on road conditions, vehicle speed, and driver behaviour. Residents in the area expressed shock, noting that the road is usually quiet in the early morning but can become dangerous due to high speeds and sharp bends.
