KUCHING – The Ministry for Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG) has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests of homebuyers as the Treetops Apartments Project continues to move forward under the supervision of Twin Revenue Sdn Bhd.
On 8 May 2026, the Ministry convened a coordination meeting chaired by Deputy Minister Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee. The session brought together the developer and relevant agencies to review the project’s progress and address outstanding technical and infrastructure matters.
According to updates provided by the developer, the remaining works required for the issuance of the Occupation Permit (OP) for Blocks A and B are expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026. However, the Ministry cautioned that unforeseen circumstances, including delays in approvals or technical requirements, could extend the timeline into the fourth quarter.
One of the key milestones achieved was progress on the 33kV substation infrastructure. Approval from Sarawak Energy Berhad to connect the project to the Jepak Substation marked a significant step towards ensuring electricity supply for the apartments. This development is seen as crucial in moving the project closer to completion.
The Ministry expressed appreciation for the cooperation shown by stakeholders and authorities in finding practical solutions to expedite the project. “I would like to thank all relevant authorities and stakeholders for their cooperation in identifying practical solutions to support the timely completion of the project,” Datuk Michael Tiang said.
He further emphasised that the Ministry will continue to monitor developments closely, working with the developer and agencies to facilitate completion and ensure timely delivery of units to buyers.
As part of its regulatory oversight, the Ministry has also decided to temporarily halt the issuance of new developer licences to several companies. In addition, certain sales permits linked to projects under the same directorship are being reviewed and, where necessary, suspended. These measures are in line with statutory provisions under the Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Ordinance 2013 and Regulations 2014.
The Sarawak government reiterated its commitment to ensuring housing projects are implemented responsibly and in an orderly manner. By enforcing stricter compliance and monitoring, the Ministry aims to protect the interests of purchasers and maintain public confidence in the housing sector.
The Treetops Apartments Project, located in Kuching, remains under close watch as authorities work to balance development progress with regulatory safeguards. Buyers have been assured that their interests remain a priority, with the government determined to see the project delivered in accordance with legal and technical standards.
