In a message issued today, Tun Wan Junaidi, together with his wife, Her Most Gracious Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, and their family, extended heartfelt wishes to those commemorating the sacred occasion. The Head of State noted that Sarawak’s multicultural society continues to stand as a model of understanding and harmony. He said the state’s unique social fabric has been built over generations through mutual respect among people of different faiths and backgrounds.

According to him, the close bonds shared among Sarawakians are evident during festive seasons, when communities visit one another, exchange greetings and celebrate together in a spirit of goodwill. Such traditions, he said, are not merely ceremonial but reflect the genuine unity that has long defined the people of Sarawak.

“Simple gestures such as sharing meals, exchanging greetings, and extending care to one another reflect the true essence of unity that we cherish,” he said in his message.

Tun Wan Junaidi emphasised that despite differences in belief and cultural practice, Sarawakians remain united by shared values of compassion, kindness and respect. These principles, he added, continue to safeguard peace and social cohesion in the state.

In a world facing various challenges, he said such values remain essential in preserving stability and harmony.

The Yang di-Pertua Negeri also called on all communities to continue nurturing the spirit of unity and mutual respect that has long been Sarawak’s strength. He stressed that safeguarding harmony is a collective responsibility, and that every generation must play its part in ensuring that the peace enjoyed today remains strong and enduring in the years ahead.
