Tunku Panglima Johor Celebrates Birthday with Remarkable Achievements

Johor Bahru – The state of Johor joins in celebrating the birthday of His Royal Highness YAM Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Panglima Johor, today. Born on 5 February 1993 in Johor Bahru, he is the fifth child of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah.

Tunku Abdul Rahman was officially conferred the title of Tunku Panglima Johor on 22 November 2012 by Sultan Ibrahim, recognising his dedication to the state and the royal family. Over the years, he has demonstrated commitment to both national service and sports excellence, gaining admiration from Malaysians across the country.

As a military officer, Tunku Abdul Rahman currently holds the rank of Colonel in the Askar Timbalan Setia Negeri Johor (ATSNJ). He completed rigorous training at the Pusat Latihan Tentera Darat (PULADA) and underwent specialised training with the Special Operations Group. His military achievements include being awarded the Green Beret on 22 October 2011, following six months of intensive GGK training at the Iskandar Mersing camp. He also earned his parachutist ‘wings’ after completing seven successful jumps, demonstrating his courage and discipline.

Beyond his military career, Tunku Abdul Rahman has made a name for himself in motorsports. He debuted as a racing driver in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia 2019 Series, representing the Johor Motorsport Racing team. Over the years, he has achieved numerous successes, culminating in a historic achievement in 2025 when he became the overall runner-up in the Pro-Am category of the GT World Challenge Asia race, marking a proud moment for Johor and Malaysian motorsports.

Today, well-wishers and the people of Johor extend their greetings to Tunku Abdul Rahman, celebrating not only his birthday but also his exemplary contributions to military service and sports. His journey continues to inspire young Malaysians to pursue excellence in both national duty and personal passions.
