BEKENU, Nov 12 – A morning collision involving a car, a lorry, and a four-wheel drive (4WD) near Kampung Satap left two young men trapped in their vehicle, prompting a swift response from local emergency services.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre reported that they received an emergency call about the incident at 9.45am. The accident scene, located approximately 42 kilometers from Bomba’s nearest station, saw firefighters rushing to assist in the rescue effort.

Upon arrival at the site around 11.08am, Bomba personnel discovered two male victims trapped inside the car. The men, identified as Dennisson Sampang Narong, 18, and Clement Jordan Bajut, 20, were conscious but immobilized due to the impact of the collision. The firefighters immediately worked to stabilise the vehicle and provided initial first aid to the two men while preparing for their extraction.

Utilising specialised equipment, including a hydraulic cutter, the firefighters carefully extricated the trapped individuals from the vehicle. Both Dennisson and Clement were successfully freed within 20 minutes, with the operation concluding at 11.28am.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation, and authorities are urging drivers to remain vigilant on the roads, especially during peak hours and in rural areas like Kampung Satap, where road conditions can vary.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of quick and coordinated rescue responses, as well as the need for careful driving on narrow and busy roads.
