Two Vehicles Destroyed in Kabong Fire, Firefighters Investigate Cause

Two Vehicles Destroyed in Kabong Fire, Firefighters Investigate Cause

KABONG: The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) is currently investigating the cause of a fire that completely destroyed two vehicles at Jalan Badron 1, Pantai Tanjung Kembang, last night.

According to a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre (PGO), the two vehicles were parked in the garage of an unoccupied house when the fire broke out.

Emergency Response The Saratok Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call at approximately 12:44 midnight. A team of seven firefighters, led by Senior Fire Officer 1, Nasir Drahman, was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the Saratok BBP Operations Response Team (PKO) discovered that the fire had fully engulfed two vehicles, a Perodua Myvi and a Proton Wira Aeroback, which were parked in the garage. The vehicles were completely burned,” the spokesperson said.

Reports confirmed that the house was vacant at the time of the incident, and no casualties were recorded.

Assistance from Kabong Volunteer Firefighters The firefighting efforts were further supported by 10 members of the Kabong Volunteer Fire Department (PBS), who played a crucial role in the initial extinguishing process.

“The fire not only destroyed two vehicles but also caused severe damage to the garage, with minor fire damage recorded at the door of the residential house,” the spokesperson added.

The PBS Kabong team used two fire extinguishers to control the spread of the fire. They also extended a stream, a nozzle, and a transport pump from an open water source (ditch) near the house to prevent the fire from escalating further.

Complete Extinguishing Process After the arrival of the Saratok BBP team, firefighters deployed a first aid hose, a nozzle, and machinery-supported water sources to completely extinguish the fire.

Authorities are now conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the total losses.
