TYT Sarawak Plants Flags To Mark National Day Celebrations

KUCHING – The grounds of the private residence of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, were adorned with the national and state flags in a display of patriotic fervor ahead of National Day.

The Governor and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, personally led a flag-planting ceremony on the evening of August 28th, symbolizing their deep affection for the nation.

The event, which was also attended by their daughter Puan Sharifah Nong-Jasima and a cousin, Encik Wan Mahdi bin Wan Mohba, saw rows of Jalur Gemilang and Sarawak flags installed across the compound.

Staff from the Astana were present to assist with the proceedings. Following the ceremonial planting, the Governor and his family spent time in their personal orchard, harvesting mangoes and enjoying the produce.

The afternoon concluded with a private family tea, which included their children Puan Sharifah Fariah and Encik Hakeem, before they returned to their official residence at Kasuma Resort.

The initiative serves to encourage widespread public participation in the upcoming independence celebrations.
