TYT Wan Junaidi Arrives in Sri Aman for Nuzul Al-Quran Event

SRI AMAN, 6 March — His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, arrived safely in Sri Aman Division this afternoon to attend the Sarawak-level Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration Ceremony for 1447H/2026M.

The distinguished couple landed at the Sri Aman Sports Complex after departing from the Hornbill Skyways Terminal in Kuching aboard a special helicopter at approximately 3.10 pm.

Their visit marks an important occasion for the Muslim community in Sarawak as the state gathers to commemorate the historic revelation of the Al-Quran during the holy month of Ramadan.

Upon arrival, the delegation led by Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah was accompanied by Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts as well as Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. He served as the ministerial escort during the visit and was accompanied by his wife Datin Sri Zuraini Abdul Jaabar.

The arrival ceremony at the Sri Aman Sports Complex saw a warm welcome from several key leaders and officials from the division. Among those present were Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak and State Assemblyman for N.32 Simanggang, Francis Harden Hollis, as well as Member of Parliament for P202 Sri Aman, Doris Sophia Brodi.

Also present to receive the Head of State and his wife were Sri Aman Resident Mahra Salleh, Sri Aman District Officer Shariff Bujang and Sri Aman District Police Chief SUPT Dennis Bunyam. Local tribal chiefs and community leaders also gathered to extend their greetings and show support during the official visit.

The visit to Sri Aman Division forms part of the official programme for the Sarawak-level Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration Ceremony, which will be held at the Bandar Sri Aman Mosque. The event is expected to gather community members, religious leaders and government representatives in a meaningful observance that reflects unity and spiritual reflection during Ramadan.

Nuzul Al-Quran holds deep significance for Muslims as it commemorates the first revelation of the Al-Quran to Prophet Muhammad. The annual celebration across Sarawak serves as a reminder of the importance of faith, knowledge and unity among the people.

Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah expressed hope that their official visit to Sri Aman would proceed smoothly and that the celebration ceremony would be successfully carried out with the participation of the local community.

The presence of the Head of State at the ceremony also reflects the importance of maintaining strong ties between the state leadership and local communities throughout Sarawak.

As preparations continue for the evening ceremony, the people of Sri Aman look forward to welcoming the dignitaries and participating in a meaningful religious event that highlights the spirit of Ramadan and community harmony.

In conclusion, the official visit by Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah to Sri Aman underscores the significance of the Nuzul Al-Quran celebration in Sarawak and the continued commitment of state leaders to support religious and community events across the state.
