UiTM Sarawak Civil Service Programme Fosters Future Leaders

GEDONG – A dedicated Civil Service Programme designed to equip academics and intellectuals for community leadership has been concluded by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak. The closing ceremony was held at the Datuk Patinggi Ali Council building on Sunday.

The programme underscores the university’s commitment to fostering responsibility and innovation among its scholars. Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, the Chief Executive Officer of the Gedong National Council (ADUN), highlighted that the seminar was initiated to cultivate academics into leaders who can effectively address pressing community issues.

He explained that the initiative supports the national agenda, noting, “This programme is aimed at the Office of the Minister of Higher Education (KPT) to encourage students to learn more as well as teachers outside the classroom.”

Such efforts align with broader national goals to enhance Malaysia’s standing, including the ambition to rank among the top 25 nations on the United Nations Human Development Index.

The event also highlighted the ‘Knowledge Sharing & Transfer Programme’ (KSTP), an initiative intended to strengthen the exchange of ideas and expertise between the university, industry partners, and local communities.

Professor Dr. Firdaus Abdullah, Rector of UiTM Sarawak, stated that the programme is part of a wider strategic plan developed in conjunction with government agencies and industry leaders.

“UiTM Sarawak is developing a strategic plan together with command agencies, industry and the community to increase the number of job-ready and life-ready seminars,” he said.

This focus on practical readiness aims to produce graduates who are competitive and adaptable to the demands of the global workforce.

Also in attendance were Building Selection Officer Tamida Da’adi and UiTM Sarawak Deputy Rector Associate Professor Dr. Saimi Bujang.
