KUCHING – The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) reinforced its commitment to fostering interfaith understanding and inclusive governance during a successful engagement session with the leadership of the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Sarawak.

Held on Monday, the session was chaired by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also the Second Minister for Finance and New Economy, Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, and Minister responsible for UNIFOR.

UNIFOR Director Dato Georgina Apphia Ngau led the welcoming of BEM Sarawak’s Executive Committee, General Council members, and 26 District Chairmen who gathered for the session alongside other key representatives.

The meeting was further dignified by the presence of Datuk Gerawat Gala, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), and Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, Assemblyman for Murum.

The engagement served as a platform for updating ongoing project implementations, exchanging constructive feedback, and fostering strategic policy dialogue. Discussions centred around aligning development goals with the needs of Sarawak’s religious communities and enhancing the mechanisms of inclusive support.

UNIFOR reiterated its dedication to continuous dialogue and cooperation with religious stakeholders, highlighting its mission to champion mutual respect and equitable development among Sarawak’s multicultural population.
