The funding covered 155 projects across 126 schools, ensuring that educational institutions under missionary management receive the necessary support to continue serving their communities.

For houses of worship, RM35.78 million has already been channelled to 171 projects, with the remaining RM54.22 million scheduled for disbursement on Thursday.

The allocations are part of UNIFOR’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Sarawak’s tradition of religious tolerance and inclusivity.

Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah emphasised that the initiative goes beyond financial assistance. He described it as a long-term commitment by the government to safeguard Sarawak’s unique identity as a state where diverse religious communities coexist peacefully.

“Sarawak is one of the few places in the world where communities of various religions can flourish and worship together in a peaceful atmosphere without conflict,” he said during his winding-up speech at the Third Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN).

He added that the allocations reflect the vision of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, who has consistently highlighted social unity as the foundation of Sarawak’s development.
