SAMARAHAN – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) celebrated the achievements of its students and staff at the prestigious Gemilang Award Ceremony (MAGU) 2026, held on 6 May at the Gemilang Arena, DeTAR Putra.
The annual event, organised by UNIMAS, recognises outstanding contributions across a wide range of fields, including academics, management, service, sports, innovation and leadership.
It serves as a platform to honour individuals whose dedication and performance have supported the university’s aspirations and strengthened its reputation nationally and internationally.
Sarawak Federal Secretary, YBhg. Dato Ahmad Nadzri bin Mohd Hassan attended the ceremony as a guest of honour.
He joined other distinguished figures, including Chairman of the University Board of Directors Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Ahmad Hata bin Rasit.
Also attending the event were Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr Al-Khalid Othman; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Ir. Dr Siti Noor Linda Taib; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr Fitri Suraya Mohamad Hapnie Jobli; and Registrar, Tuan Haji Azlan Ramli, who also chaired the MAGU 2026 Executive Committee.
During the ceremony, Dato Ahmad Nadzri presented awards in several categories, including Certificates of Appreciation, Outstanding Implementation Awards and Outstanding Service Awards.
These honours were given in recognition of the high level of commitment and responsibility demonstrated by members of the UNIMAS community.
The event highlighted the university’s ongoing efforts to encourage excellence and innovation among its students and staff.
By acknowledging achievements in diverse areas, UNIMAS aims to inspire its community to continue striving for success and to contribute meaningfully to society.
