Upgrading Works at Pasar Tamu Bintangor On Track for Completion

Upgrading Works at Pasar Tamu Bintangor On Track for Completion

BINTANGOR: The much-anticipated upgrading works at Pasar Tamu Bintangor are progressing smoothly, bringing hope and excitement to the local community. The project aims to modernize the market and provide better facilities for traders and visitors alike.

Meradong Assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, recently conducted a site inspection on Thursday to assess the ongoing construction. During his visit, he addressed concerns raised by traders, particularly regarding the non-functional lighting at the market. In response, he assured that the wiring system would be repaired, and new LED lights would be installed. This initiative will enhance visibility, especially for traders who start their businesses early in the morning.

RM1.6 Million Investment for Market Upgrades

The upgrading project is backed by a substantial RM1.6 million investment. The funding comes from two sources: RM1 million under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and an additional RM600,000 from the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).

The improvements will include:

  • Upgrading of trading stalls to ensure better infrastructure for traders.
  • Enhancements to the two-storey market building, which serves as the heart of local business activities.
  • Better facilities for food and beverage stalls to attract more visitors and improve hygiene standards.

Boosting Local Economy and Business Growth

Datuk Ding expressed optimism that once completed, the revamped Pasar Tamu Bintangor will provide greater comfort and convenience for traders. The enhanced facilities are expected to attract more foot traffic, benefiting both businesses and the local economy.

“The improvements will not only ease the daily operations of traders but also create a more vibrant marketplace for both locals and tourists,” he stated.

Accompanying Datuk Ding during the inspection were Deputy Chairman of SUPP Bintangor Branch, Chieng Boung Ong, and Secretary of SUPP Bintangor Branch, Lau Sie Hing.

As work continues, traders and visitors eagerly anticipate the completion of the upgraded Pasar Tamu Bintangor, which is set to become a key economic hub in the region. — EDISI UKAS
