KUCHING, 23 April 2025 – The atmosphere at the Riverside Majestic Hotel in Kuching was filled with tradition and culture as the Amanah Khairat Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak (AKYBMS) organized the SAMarindok Aidilfitri Ceremony. The special event was graced by His Excellency (TYT) the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd. Sanusi.

The presence of YAB Premier was warmly welcomed by YB Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah bin Ali Hasan, Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Chairman of AKYBMS Board of Trustees, and his wife, Yang Berbahagia Dato Hajah Dayang Morliah binti Datuk Haji Awang Daud. The event was a true celebration of Malay culture, showcasing the strong traditions of the state.
The evening kicked off with an energetic opening dance performance by the AKYBMS Art Agency, setting the tone for the cultural festivities. The guests were then treated to a mesmerizing Pencak Silat demonstration by the Asli Zamrud Silat Art Teachers, showcasing the beauty and grace of this traditional martial art.
A highlight of the evening was the symbolic inauguration ceremony of the AKYBMS Aidilfitri SAMarindok, marking the official commencement of the Aidilfitri celebration. The audience was also entertained by a powerful Banting State Poetry performance by Fauzan Iz’aan and a special musical performance by the well-known country singer, Bob Yusuf.
The ceremony was also attended by numerous dignitaries, including Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia bin Awang Nasar, Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, and his wife, Yang Berbahagia Datin Amar Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Mohd Iskandar. Other notable attendees included YB Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Abu Bakar bin Marzuki, Secretary to the Sarawak Government, and Dato Sri Haji Mohd Naroden bin Majais, Deputy Chairman of the AKYBMS Board of Trustees, along with their families.
