KUCHING, 9 April 2025 – A midnight dispute turned violent when a man was injured in an assault involving a knuckle duster at Kampung in Bau, Sarawak. The victim, a local man, suffered injuries to his ear after he was attacked by two individuals just after midnight on 5 April 2025.
According to Bau District Police Chief, DSP Dr Daram Ruer, the incident began following a minor motorcycle collision between the victim and one of the suspects. Tensions escalated when the suspect allegedly demanded the victim to pay for damages to the front part of his motorcycle.

“Initial investigations revealed that the suspect became aggressive when the victim did not agree to the compensation,” said DSP Dr Daram in a media statement.

A police report was made shortly after the incident and officers from the Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD Bau) launched an investigation. Their efforts led to the arrest of an 18-year-old local man at approximately 4.05pm on 6 April 2025.
Police also confirmed that the suspect had no previous criminal record. The case is currently being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon or dangerous object.
DSP Dr Daram urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the Bau District Police at 082-763311 or visiting the nearest police station.
He also reminded the public to remain calm during disputes and avoid taking matters into their own hands.
