SIBU – The Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS) Women’s Association made a meaningful courtesy call on Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, wife of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, at a prominent hotel in Sibu today.

During the meeting, UTS Women’s Association Chairperson, Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain, shared insights into the association’s mission and achievements since its establishment in 2022. She highlighted that the association represents female staff and wives of UTS staff as a consultative body to support its members’ interests.

“We aim to create a platform that strengthens relationships among staff while enhancing UTS’s visibility in the community. Our goal is to empower women to thrive in all areas of life,” she stated.

Empowering Women Through Meaningful Initiatives

The association has been actively organising a variety of programmes that focus on personal growth, financial literacy, and self-care. Notable events include self-development seminars, workshops on financial management, and social ethics training.

Datin Dayang Mariani also highlighted the community outreach initiatives by Wanita UTS. “In December 2023, we visited the Methodist Children’s Home in Sibu to offer support and engage with the children. During Ramadan, we distributed 200 packages of bubur lambuk to the public, including villagers and hospital staff. These efforts are aimed at helping those in need and strengthening bonds within the community,” she added.

The association plans to expand its activities to benefit both its members and the larger community. Toh Puan Fauziah expressed her appreciation for their commitment and encouraged them to continue their impactful work.
