Wan Junaidi Pays Final Respects to Late Aunt in Kuching

KUCHING – Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah Mohd Sanusi paid their final respects to his late aunt, Sharifah Rasidah Tuanku Abdul Rahman, in Kuching on Saturday.

The couple visited the remains of Sharifah Rasidah at the Ikhwanul Islam Mosque in Taman Sukma at about noon, where family members, relatives and mosque representatives gathered to offer their condolences.

Sharifah Rasidah, who was affectionately known as Usu Rasidah, died at 12.40am on Saturday at Sarawak General Hospital. She was 84.

She was the youngest sister of Wan Junaidi’s late mother. Her passing brought together members of the family and those close to her at the mosque ahead of the funeral rites.

Wan Junaidi and Fauziah were received at the mosque by its chairman, Tuan Haji Mohd Said Haji Gapor, along with Sharifah Rasidah’s family members and relatives.

Among those present were her husband, Tuan Haji Zakaria Mat Taib, her daughter Puan Siti Azlina Wan Husain and her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Anuar Ahmad, who serves as PS1 Administration at the 1st Division Headquarters.

Wan Junaidi’s daughter, Hajah Sharifah Fariah, and son-in-law, Haji Muhammad Nur Hakeem Yusop, were also present during the visit.

The visit included the performance of the obligatory Zohor prayer in congregation. This was followed by the funeral prayer for Sharifah Rasidah, led by Alfadhil Ustaz Muhammad Umair Abdul Wahab, Imam I of the Ikhwanul Islam Mosque.

After completing the prayers, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah left the mosque following the funeral rites.

The visit came as the family mourned the death of a close relative who had been part of Wan Junaidi’s extended family.

The gathering at the mosque allowed relatives and members of the community to pay their respects and support the bereaved family.

In expressing their condolences, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah conveyed their deep sorrow over Sharifah Rasidah’s passing and prayed for strength and fortitude for the family as they come to terms with the loss.

They also prayed that Sharifah Rasidah’s soul would be blessed, her shortcomings and sins forgiven, and that she would be placed among the faithful.

The funeral gathering at Taman Sukma reflected the family’s observance of the Islamic funeral rites following her death at Sarawak General Hospital.

Sharifah Rasidah’s death at the age of 84 marks the loss of a family member who was closely connected to the family of the Sarawak governor.

Relatives gathered at the mosque to accompany the deceased through the final religious rites and offer support to one another during the period of mourning.
