Two Water Tanks Delivered to Kampung Sungai Mata

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Residents at Kampung Sungai Mata in Kota Samarahan can now breathe a sigh of relief after being supplied with two large-capacity water tanks to address recent disruptions in clean water supply.

Each 13,500-litre tank was installed as part of a coordinated effort to ensure villagers have uninterrupted access to potable water.

The initiative was carried out following requests by Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly and Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato’ Idris Buang, together with Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Kota Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang.

The tanks will be connected to a piping system that channels water directly into homes, enabling residents to resume their daily routines.

Local leaders stressed that the move is not merely a temporary fix but also a step towards improving the overall well-being of the community.

Sarawak Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi directed his ministry to expedite the delivery as a proactive measure.

He emphasised that ensuring a continuous water supply remains a top priority, particularly for rural communities that often face challenges due to infrastructure limitations and climate-related factors.

Water supply disruptions have been a recurring issue in several parts of Sarawak, with rural villages frequently experiencing shortages during dry periods or when existing systems fail.

The newly installed tanks are expected to serve as a buffer against such disruptions, providing residents with greater stability and peace of mind.

Community members welcomed the swift response, noting that access to clean water is essential for health, hygiene and livelihoods.

The tanks are regarded as a crucial resource that will sustain households while longer-term infrastructure solutions are being planned.

Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to responding promptly to rural development needs.

By combining immediate assistance with longer-term planning, the authorities aim to strengthen the resilience of communities vulnerable to water supply challenges.

The delivery of the tanks marks an important step in restoring reliable access to clean water for Kampung Sungai Mata residents, underscoring the role of responsive governance in safeguarding community welfare.
