Wilfred Yap Channels RM20,000 to Boost School Facilities

KUCHING – Efforts to strengthen education development received a positive boost when Kota Sentosa assemblyman, YB Wilfred Yap, presented a RM20,000 contribution to the Parents-Teachers Association (PIBG) of SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim, Kem Semenggo. The contribution reflects ongoing efforts to support educational growth and community welfare, particularly in enhancing school infrastructure and learning facilities.

The cheque handover ceremony took place during YB Wilfred Yap’s visit to the school, where he also conducted a monitoring visit for Phase 2 of the upgrading works under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP). The financial assistance is expected to support the purchase of essential school equipment and the upgrading of facilities, helping to create a better and more comfortable learning environment for both students and teachers.

Speaking during the visit, YB Wilfred Yap stressed that education remains a key pillar in building the future of society. He highlighted that schools must be equipped with proper facilities and maintained in good condition to ensure students can learn effectively. According to him, the contribution aims to assist the school in providing better educational support while helping teachers carry out their responsibilities in a safer and more conducive environment.

During the same visit, YB Wilfred Yap also inspected the ongoing RTP Phase 2 upgrading works at the school. The project, which carries an allocation of RM300,000, focuses on improving infrastructure to enhance safety, functionality and comfort for the school community. The upgrading works are part of the government’s continuous effort to improve public facilities, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

He explained that close monitoring of development projects funded by the government is crucial to ensure proper implementation. He noted that such supervision helps guarantee that projects are completed according to approved specifications and within the stipulated timeline. He added that every project must provide real benefits to the local community, especially in improving education quality and public facilities.

YB Wilfred Yap also expressed appreciation to the school management, PIBG members, implementing agencies and contractors for their cooperation in ensuring the success of the project. He reiterated his commitment to continue prioritising education and addressing grassroots needs in his constituency, noting that collaboration between the government, schools and the community is essential in achieving sustainable development.
