Authorities confirmed that the suspect, who already has a criminal record linked to drug offences, tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine following a urine screening conducted during the operation.

The case is now being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which covers offences related to drug consumption.

The Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 has long been a key legislative framework in Malaysia’s fight against narcotics.

Under Section 15(1)(a), individuals found guilty of consuming drugs can face penalties including fines and mandatory rehabilitation programmes. The law is intended to reduce drug dependency while reinforcing public order.

DSP Pricha urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing information on suspicious activities. He noted that community involvement is crucial in ensuring that Lubok Antu remains safe and secure.

“We encourage residents to share any information that could help us combat drug activities. Together, we can safeguard the well-being of our district,” he said.
