KUCHING (Feb 8): The death of a woman found in a rental room at MJC Batu Kawa has been confirmed as a murder case, according to Padawan District police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi. Initially reported as a sudden death, further investigation revealed signs of foul play.

Preliminary investigations found a fabric ligature around the victim’s neck, suggesting possible strangulation. Due to this discovery, the case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“The victim was found unconscious in the rented room, lying face down on a mattress. There was a fabric ligature around her neck, and a medical officer confirmed that she had died,” said Mohd Irwan in a statement.

Police received a report regarding the incident at 2.16pm yesterday at the Batu Kawa police station. Upon arrival, authorities secured the scene and began a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
