Woman Injured After Motorcycle Skids into Ditch in Serian

SERIAN: A woman sustained injuries after losing control of her motorcycle and skidding into a ditch in Kampung Pasir, Taman Pasir earlier today.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), an emergency call was received at 11.48 am regarding the incident. A team from the Serian Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival at 11.53 am, we found that the accident involved a black Yamaha 150 motorcycle. The victim, identified as Nurelydia Hamdan, had fallen into a five-foot-deep ditch on the left side of the road,” said a JBPM spokesperson.

The rescue team, led by PBK II (TBK I) Christopher Tugoh, provided initial medical assistance to the victim. She suffered injuries to her left leg, including a sprain and minor wounds.

After receiving first aid, the victim was handed over to the Ministry of Health (MOH) medical team. She was then transported by ambulance to Serian Hospital for further treatment.

Authorities advise road users to exercise caution, especially during unpredictable weather conditions that may cause slippery roads. Motorcyclists are urged to wear protective gear and maintain control of their vehicles to prevent accidents.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly for motorcyclists, who are at higher risk of severe injuries in accidents.
