The annual dinner was held not only to welcome the Year of the Horse but also to express sincere appreciation to those who have continuously supported the association’s growth and development. Reflecting on the past year, the association highlighted steady progress in promoting traditional Chinese martial arts as well as lion and dragon dance culture in Kuching. This achievement, it noted, was made possible through the strong cooperation of five main pillars within the organisation.

The Board of Committee was recognised for its strategic planning and coordination of activities, ensuring clear direction in preserving and promoting Chinese martial arts heritage. The Advisory Panel was also commended for providing valuable guidance and encouragement, especially during critical moments.

Special appreciation was extended to the coaching team, who work tirelessly on the training ground. Beyond teaching martial arts techniques, coaches were praised for instilling discipline, respect and team spirit among students, shaping both skill and character.

Sponsors and parents were also acknowledged for their crucial role. The association expressed gratitude to sponsors for their generous contributions and trust, while parents were thanked for their unwavering support and confidence in allowing their children to train and perform in martial arts and lion and dragon dance activities.

Above all, the student members were described as the driving force of the association. Their dedication during training sessions and commitment in performances and competitions reflect the enduring spirit of wushu and cultural heritage.

In the coming year, the association pledged to continue upholding unity, discipline and respect for tradition. Plans include strengthening training programmes, raising performance standards and expanding activities to allow more people to appreciate the richness of martial arts and lion and dragon dance culture.

After the dinner concluded, members shared a spontaneous yet meaningful idea — to take a three-generation group photograph. The moment captured senior pioneers, current leaders and young members standing side by side, symbolising continuity and shared passion.

Many present have dedicated years of their lives to lion and dragon dance, while a younger generation is now stepping forward. With even a fourth generation emerging, the association sees a clear path of heritage being preserved and carried forward.

The evening ended on a hopeful note, with wishes for good health, family happiness and success in the year ahead, as the rhythmic spirit of drums and tradition continues to unite generations in Kuching.
