KUCHING – YB Wilfred Yap has officially handed back the upgraded Kampung Lubok Buan Village Hall (Balairaya) following the completion of Phase 2 works under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2024. The project, valued at RM100,000, was carried out to improve facilities for the local community.
Officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), village chief Tr. Michael Mada, and officials from Azraki Resources, the chosen contractor, were present at the handover event.
Another community-focused project under YB Wilfred Yap’s constituency development efforts in N12 Kota Sentosa came to a successful finish with the celebration.
After Phase 1 was finished, the villagers expressed worries about further demands, which prompted the start of Phase 2 of the project.
In response to input from the ground, YB Wilfred Yap collaborated closely with JKR and the contractor to make sure that the balairaya’s operation and safety were improved.
“The balairaya is an important communal asset for Kampung Lubok Buan. When additional needs were raised by the village leadership and residents, we acted to ensure these concerns were addressed. I am pleased that the Phase 2 works under RTP 2024 have now been completed and can be fully utilised by the community,” he said.
The renovations concentrated on a number of important elements, such as flooring, roofing, gutters, and restrooms.
These improvements were made to guarantee that the structure is secure, cosy, and appropriate for regular usage.
The project’s completion has improved the balairaya’s capacity to function as a community centre, offering a space for social events, meetings, and cultural events.
It is anticipated that the upgraded facilities will promote local efforts in Kampung Lubok Buan and increase community togetherness.
YB Wilfred Yap thanked JKR and Azraki Resources for their cooperation and professionalism in making sure the project was finished on schedule and within the authorised scope.
He underlined that the Sarawak Government’s approach to development is still people-centric, emphasising the importance of listening to grassroots input and providing solutions that directly benefit locals.
In order to guarantee that upcoming development initiatives in Kota Sentosa are successfully carried out and offer the community long-term advantages, he reiterated his commitment to maintaining strong collaboration with implementing agencies and village leadership.
The handover ceremony also featured Puan Sofea Nurazzniza binti Masdi formally handing back the upgraded balairaya to Tr Michael Mada, symbolising the completion of the project and its return to the villagers for full use.
