Billy lauded the programme for its tangible impact on community well-being and urged its continuation.

“This programme is not only about keeping our environment clean—it also strengthens community bonds and promotes collective responsibility,” he said.

He highlighted the importance of gotong-royong (communal work) as a proactive defence against diseases like dengue fever, calling on every village to regularly organise clean-up efforts to eliminate Aedes mosquito breeding sites.

“If anyone in your household shows signs of dengue, don’t panic—seek medical attention immediately and keep hydrated,” he advised.

Billy also praised MDL’s Zero Waste initiative, which includes the collection of e-waste and hard-to-dispose recyclable items—helping reduce environmental pollution and promote sustainable waste management practices in rural areas.

In a show of community care, the ceremony also saw the distribution of food baskets to 20 local recipients, reinforcing the programme’s holistic approach to social and environmental welfare.

The initiative aligns with Sarawak’s broader vision for inclusive community development and environmental sustainability, ensuring that no one is left behind in the state’s journey towards a healthier and greener future.
