BINTULU – The Jelutong Special Settlement Scheme (SPK) in Jepak has reached a major milestone with the completion of 111 housing units, alongside full infrastructure facilities, under the supervision of the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA).
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg visited the project site on 23 May 2026 to review its progress.
The initiative, aimed at providing modern housing for the community, is regarded as a significant step in enhancing the quality of life for residents in the area.
The project was carried out in two phases. The first stage, comprising 97 units, was completed in October 2025, while the second stage, involving 14 units, was finalised on 30 April 2026.
According to the latest BDA report dated 1 May 2026, all infrastructure works have been successfully delivered. These include pre-paved roads, concrete drains, footpaths, street lighting and water catchment ponds.
Each single-storey bungalow unit is designed with practicality and comfort in mind, offering three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room.
The houses are also equipped with electrical wiring, a piping system and septic tanks, ensuring that residents benefit from modern facilities.
The Jelutong SPK project is expected to bring long-term benefits to the local community by providing well-planned housing in a conducive environment.
It also strengthens the development of Jepak as a modern settlement, aligning with Sarawak’s broader vision of sustainable and people-centred growth.
Officials noted that the project demonstrates the Sarawak government’s commitment to public housing development, with a strong emphasis on community welfare and sustainability.
By delivering quality homes complete with infrastructure, the initiative reflects the state’s determination to ensure that development projects directly improve the lives of its citizens.
The Premier’s visit reaffirmed the government’s focus on ensuring that housing projects are implemented effectively and transparently.
