414 Educators Honoured at Kuching District’s Outstanding Service Awards 2024

KUCHING – A total of 414 educators were celebrated at the Outstanding Service Awards (APC) 2024 ceremony for the Kuching District, organised by the Kuching District Education Office (PPD Kuching) at Hikmah Hall, Petra Jaya on Sunday.

The event was officiated by Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and Member of Parliament for Santubong, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, who expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the commitment and contributions of educators in shaping the nation’s future.

“Teachers are more than just instructors—they are mentors, role models, and nation-builders. Their role is essential in nurturing a knowledgeable and ethical society,” she said in her keynote address.

The award recipients included 8 PPD Kuching staff, 3 principals, 7 headmasters, and 396 teachers and support staff from schools across Kuching district.

Dato Sri Nancy also proposed that PPD Kuching explore strategic collaborations with her ministry to implement parenting and family support programmes in schools—ensuring pupils’ welfare is supported holistically.

Touching on her constituency, she noted that Santubong Parliament comprises 26 schools and reaffirmed the Santubong Service Centre’s ongoing commitment to support education-related efforts.

“From digital literacy and STEM to motivational and assistance programmes, our focus remains on enabling all children—especially those from B40 families—to thrive in a challenging global environment,” she added.

Also present were Sarawak Deputy Director of Education, Dr Siti Zulaiha Ibrahim, and Kuching District Education Officer, Dr Majelan Sulong.
