Josh Allen Crowned MVP at NFL Honors: Bills Star Breaks Records

Josh Allen Crowned MVP at NFL Honors: Bills Star Breaks Records

In a stunning turn at the NFL Honors in New Orleans, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen beat out Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson to clinch the coveted NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

A Historic Win for Allen

Allen made history as the first player in 21 seasons to win MVP without being named first-team All-Pro. This rare feat has only been accomplished by legends like John Elway (1987) and Steve McNair (2003).

The MVP race was one of the tightest in recent years, with Allen edging out Jackson by just four first-place votes—27 to 23. Despite trailing Jackson in major stats, Allen’s ability to lead the Bills to a 13-4 record without his top wide receivers cemented his place as MVP. He became the first player in NFL history to record at least 25 touchdown passes, 10 rushing touchdowns, and fewer than 10 interceptions in a single season.

“This is a team award,” said a humble Allen. “I love my team. We did this together.”

Key NFL Honors Highlights

  1. Offensive Player of the Year – Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley rushed for over 2,000 yards, earning him the title.
  2. Defensive Player of the Year – Broncos’ Patrick Surtain II dominated the field, allowing only two touchdowns all season.
  3. Offensive Rookie of the Year – Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels stunned the league, transforming Washington’s 4-13 team into NFC contenders.
  4. Defensive Rookie of the Year – Rams’ pass rusher Jared Verse shined with 50 quarterback pressures.
  5. Comeback Player of the Year – Bengals QB Joe Burrow bounced back from a wrist injury, leading the NFL with 4,918 passing yards.

Looking Ahead

Josh Allen’s victory marks a milestone for the Buffalo Bills, joining the ranks of past MVPs O.J. Simpson (1973) and Thurman Thomas (1991). Fans are already looking forward to what Allen and the Bills will accomplish next season.
