Sarawak Unity Drives Progress and Prosperity Towards 2030

SERIAN – Sarawak’s racial unity and harmony have been the foundation of its rapid progress and development, said Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian. He emphasized that under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, the state’s economy continues to grow steadily, with annual state income increasing significantly.

Speaking at the Chinese New Year 2025 Celebration organized by the Serian Chinese Chamber of Commerce at the Chung Hua National School (SK) Multipurpose Hall on Thursday, Dr Sim expressed confidence that Sarawak will achieve developed-state status by 2030.

“Once considered one of the poorest states, Sarawak has risen to become a beacon of growth. By 2030, we will be a fully developed state,” he said, urging the people of Sarawak to preserve the harmony and unity that have been key to the state’s success.

He highlighted the importance of celebrating Sarawak’s multicultural society, saying, “Today, we see all races coming together to celebrate Chinese New Year. In Sarawak, people live, eat, and sit together at one table. This spirit of unity is what makes Sarawak unique and strong.”

With Sarawak’s economic growth on the rise, Dr Sim noted that the state government has introduced various initiatives to accelerate development and improve the well-being of its people. He reaffirmed that as long as unity remains strong, Sarawak will continue on its path toward greater prosperity.
