58 Seconds to Extinguish Fire, Perodua Alza Burnt in Kuching
KUCHING: A Perodua Alza was completely destroyed in a fire on Jalan Matang FAC this morning, despite the swift action of firefighters who controlled the blaze in just 58 seconds.
The Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO) received a distress call at 8:24 AM and immediately deployed a team from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) to the scene, located 21 kilometres away.
Firefighters Arrived to a Fully Engulfed Car
According to Operations Commander PBK II Mohamad Nizam Bujang, firefighters arrived at 8:42 AM and found the vehicle already engulfed in flames, with an estimated 100% damage.
The team acted quickly, using a single water stream from the fire engine’s pump. In less than a minute, they successfully controlled the fire, and by 9:00 AM, the situation was fully under control. The operation concluded ten minutes later.
No Injuries, Investigation Ongoing
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, the cause of the fire and total losses are still under investigation.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vehicle fire safety. Car owners are advised to regularly check their vehicles, especially the wiring and fuel systems, to prevent similar incidents.
