According to Sri Aman District Police Chief DSP Mathew Manggie, preliminary investigations revealed that the 4WD was heading towards Kuching when it collided with the motorcycle. It is believed that the elderly motorcyclist was riding against the flow of traffic at a P-Turn area.

“Initial findings indicate that the motorcycle was moving in the opposite direction of traffic, which led to the fatal crash,” Mathew said in a statement.

Authorities are currently investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with reckless driving resulting in death.

This incident serves as a stern reminder for all road users to follow traffic regulations strictly, especially at high-risk areas such as P-Turns. Authorities urge motorcyclists, in particular, to stay vigilant and avoid riding against traffic flow, which increases the risk of fatal accidents.
