Kitchen Fire in Betong Three Restaurant Workers Escape Unharmed

Kitchen Fire in Betong: Three Restaurant Workers Escape Unharmed

BETONG – A fire broke out early this morning in a house for restaurant workers located on the first floor of a shop building opposite Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Chung Bua Betong. Fortunately, all three residents managed to escape without injuries.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre (PGO), an emergency call was received at approximately 1.48 am, alerting them to the incident.

The Betong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) quickly dispatched a team of six firefighters, led by Senior Fire Officer 1, Jusmandie Jamaie, to the scene.

“The fire involved the kitchen area of the restaurant worker’s house on the first floor of the shop building, affecting about 20 percent of the structure. The fire was successfully brought under control at 1.54 am,” stated a representative from the department.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported in the incident. The quick response from the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire to determine what led to the incident.

This incident highlights the importance of fire safety awareness, especially in residential and commercial buildings. Residents are reminded to always check electrical wiring and ensure that fire prevention measures, such as smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, are in place.

For now, the three restaurant workers are safe, but they have lost part of their living space. Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any fire hazards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
