Tragedy at Kala Dana Beach Another Missing Child Found Drowned

Tragedy at Kala Dana Beach: Another Missing Child Found Drowned

MUKAH: Another heartbreaking tragedy struck Mukah as a missing child was found drowned at Kala Dana Beach at 9.25 am this morning. This incident marks yet another devastating loss for the local community.

Mukah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief, Nicholas Belulin, confirmed that the victim’s body was discovered by villagers who had been assisting in the search. This tragic case unfolded yesterday afternoon when two children, who were not skilled swimmers, vanished while bathing in Sungai Batang Mukah, near Jalan Kampung Bedanga.

According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 3.50 pm on March 18. The children’s mother, in a desperate attempt to rescue them, was unable to save them from drowning.

The search operation began immediately, and at 4.40 pm yesterday, rescuers found the first victim’s body about 2 kilometres from the incident site. Sadly, efforts to locate the second child continued until this morning, when villagers discovered the remains at Kala Dana Beach.

The victim, a 10-year-old boy, was taken to the Mukah Hospital morgue for further procedures. Authorities have urged parents to remain vigilant and ensure children’s safety, especially when near water bodies.

This tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety awareness. Authorities advise the public to be cautious, especially during school holidays when children are more likely to engage in outdoor activities near rivers and beaches.

The Mukah community is in mourning, and heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family.
